The Winning Student Economics Videos

In celebration of Economic Education Month this past October, we invited students nationwide to participate in Video Contest. We asked the students to answer the question: “How is economics part of my everyday life?”.

The Contest gave students the opportunity to think about how economics is a part of their lives, while showing off their economics smarts and creativity.

We received more than 700 video submissions!

The hot economic topics the students addressed in their videos ranged from the rising cost of goods due to inflation, how gas prices affected their pocket books, mortgage rates and the cost of living, the looming recession, their parents’ retirement accounts, and more.

Our team watched every single video. With the help of our guest judges, we were able to narrow it down to three winning videos per grade band (K-4; 5-8; 9-12). The winning videos for each grade band won cash prizes! We are thrilled to share the winning videos! Congratulations to all! Special thank you to our judges Jennifer Davidson, Jeffrey Lacker, Loretta Mester, Emily Kolinski Morris, Gary Stern, Justin Wolfers, and Mark Zandi.

About the Council for Economic Education

The Council for Economic Education’s (CEE’s) mission is to equip K–12 students with the tools and knowledge of personal finance and economics so that they can make better decisions for themselves, their families, and their communities, and learn to successfully navigate in our ever-changing economy. We carry out our mission in three ways.  We advocate to require financial and economic education in every state. We provide training, tools and resources – online and live through over 180 affiliates nationwide – to more than 40,000 teachers annually who in turn bring the highest quality economics and personal finance instruction to over 4 million students. We deepen knowledge and introduce high school students to critical career capabilities through our national competitions and Invest in Girls program.
